Extending a linear plot from 6 weeks to 8 year can be a problem
Notes:
If the linear fit is extrapolated far beyond the available data, problem can also occur. In this case, when ticket sales for a few weeks is extrapolated to eight years, the prediction is that every American will have seen the movie. An eight year run is unlikely for a movie. Is there a movie that opened last year and still has the same ticket sales as when it opened?
