On of the greatest values associated with determining an equation which can reproduce the data is the ability to predict values which have not yet been determined. This process is call extrapolation. If we know that 500,000 tickets were sold in the first week, then a prediction that 3 million tickets will be sold in first six weeks is not unreasonable.
