Slide 4 of 35
Notes:
The growth points of Sara, the young lady of interest, is now plotted on the graph using blue dots joined by a yellow curve. Does the fact that her height measurements are lower than the 5 percentile mark for the entire population mean anything?
Growth hormones, the chemical in the body that control the growth of humans, have been isolated. They can be given to Sara and will increase the rate at which her height increases. However, her final height is determined by genetic information and growth hormones will not change her final heights. In fact, if additional growth hormones are given, they may cause problems in bones growing too fast resulting in more defects than normal.
A lot of information is available, but how to analyze it.
