CIS 465 (Advanced Information Systems)
-- Section 001
Tuesday and Thursday 1-2:25 pm in
Kupferian Hall 118
Latest News:
- December 13: George W. Bush is the next president of the US, and the
"extra credit" questions (and instructions) have been posted in
our Webboard conference. Please check that out, and post your answers before
the day of the exam (December 20). Do not hesitate to email me if you have
any questions. I am also asking you to provide me with feedback on the
course in our conference - please do so if you have a few spare moments. It
was a pleasure working with you all, and good luck with your exams.
- December 12: Final class - evaluation and an experiment on strategic
voting.
- December 1: the next class is on December 12 - the final class for this course, as
December 14 is reading day. We must take some time for evaluating this class - formal and
informal. The formal part requires you to fill in a 'Course Evaluation Form', and you must
bring a No. 2 PENCIL for that - please do so. Between now and December
12, you can reach me through email (as usual).
- December 1: for the software group: please update me on your work next week - send me an
email with the latest news on your progress around December 6th.
- November 30: this is the arrangement for the final exam on December 20th. All groups
must present their project in a 15 minutes (powerpoint) presentation, followed by 10-15
minutes of questions by me. You can decide on your own on the format and style of the
presentation, but keep in mind that this presentation is very important to get the
contract for your company! Everyone in the group must be prepared to answer questions.
Practice your presentation so that it fits in 15 minutes - I will ask you to stop after 15
minutes. Provide hand-outs for everyone in class (you can print up to 4 slides on one
page), including me :-). I also need the final powerpoint presentation, so bring one
diskette containing your presentation, or even better: send it to me before December 20.
- November 29: these are the notes for tomorrow's classes: Problem Solving, Chapter 5 and Chapter 10.
- November 29: there are no classes next week - I unexpectedly have to
reschedule these. Tomorrow, Nov. 30, we'll have one extra class already,
right after the usual class meeting time.
- November 29: This is the new grading distribution for this course, based upon our
discussion yesterday: Midterm Exam: 25%; Assignment 1: 10%; Assignment 2:15%;
Participation:10%;Group Project Document: 20%; Group Project Presentation = Final Exam:
20%; Extra credit question on decision making or problem solving: 10%.

presentation, 96K).

but we now know the technique very well - I hope ;-) ! We will now focus for one lecture

half an hour for questions on the exam. The exam is on Thursday, Oct.
