Tekmark Computer Services, Inc., Edison,
NJ. Software Engineer/Developer, Consultant to AT&T, NJ. Duties: Primary duty consisted of providing technical consultation to AT&T at Murray Hills NJ. Present Projects Undertaken: • Developed an application in PowerBuilder 4.0 and later in 5.0 using an ORACLE7 database as the backend to automatically prompt the user and upgrade AT&T's Executive Information System whenever a newer version was available. The application utilizes PowerBuilder's graphing capabilities, making use of OLE, DDE, MDI design and drag and drop features to facilitate the user interface along with an extensive database developed in Microsoft Access, a separate program developed in Microsoft Visual Basic and several other batch programs written in Microsoft DOS. • Developed the Executive Information System for the Internet using Java, Perl and HTML. The application utilizes applets to deliver the front end and CGI scripts in Perl along with ProC to communicate to an ORACLE7 database being used as the backend. • Installed, configured and maintained the Netscape Commerce Web Server on a Silicon Graphics machine running IRIX 5.3 for the EIS application. The server was configured to allow access only to certain machines and denying it to all the rest. A login screen was also used to further secure the application against unauthorized access. • Also installed, configured, maintained and tested the NCSA 1.5c web server for the same purpose of running the EIS application. • Installed, configure and tested the Citrix Web Server to enable the Windows version of the EIS application to be used through a web browser with all its functionalities without having to convert it into web format first. This allowed the users to utilize all the features of the application at a high communication rate without having to first migrate them over to the web side. • Discovered the most optimum solution for the installation of Microsoft Windows 95 to work with the current hardware being used at AT&T and to communicate with the network using both Microsoft and Netmanage stack. • Solved all the technical issues concerning development, production and implementation of the EIS system along with various other software engineering tasks. • Designed the department home page using HTML 2.0 standards. Ciba Corporation. Marketing Department, Intern,
Summit, NJ. • Assisted the supervisor in managing LAN and IBM networks and making appropriate changes to assure their proper function. • Built and configured a server with the proper communication hardware and diskspace for the installation of the Novell 3.11 network. • Installed, configured and managed a Novell 3.11 network for the technical support staff of the Marketing Department. Along with other maintenance tasks, also established user accounts with proper rights to the network, allocated disk space to all accounts, mapped all drives, installed various softwares so that they were accessible to all users and made sure that all security features were implemented to their full extent. • Developed applications in DOS and other softwares and came up with solutions to any requirements or problems that may occur. • Suggested purchase of various software and hardware products based upon market trend. • Developed an MDI application to perform various reporting tasks such as providing users with some pre-defined reports as well as ad-hoc reports. The application employed use of various styles of datawindows, menus, DDE and OLE. |
PROJECTS: |
• Developed an organizer in PowerBuilder 4.03
for a computer technology firm to take care of their planning and scheduling
tasks. The application used WATCOM as the backend database and was developed
by implementing OLE, MDI design, various styles of datawindows, drag and
drop capabilities along with many other graphing features offered by PowerBuilder.
• Developed an inventory system at NJIT for the NJIT bookstore using PowerBuilder 3.0. The system kept track of books available for various courses and also helped the staff order books which were required upon shortage. The application used various styles of datawindows and allowed the users to view the information in both tabular and graphical formats. The use of various testing softwares was also employed to debug and stress test the application. Used RCS, MKS' version control software to maintain integrity between various versions of the application. • Designed a report generator using MS FoxPro for windows. It was used to produce some predefined reports as well as assisting users in creating ad-hoc reports. • Discovered the most suitable options to run Windows 3.11 on Novell 3.11 along with DOS 6.21 without any conflicts and using all the available options at their maximum. |
